Week 1 Studio: What is Cybersecurity?

This course is about “cybersecurity”. But what is cybersecurity? Today, we are going to have a class discussion focusing on trying to figure out for ourselves what cybersecurity is?

  1. What is “Security”? What does it mean to be secure? Is this a good thing?

  2. What is “Cyber”? What does it mean for something to be “cyber”?

  3. What is “Cyber Security”? How is it different from other types of security, such as physical security, financial secuirty, national security, etc.?

You don’t need to prepare anything for today, but please complete this week’s readings and the associated quiz on Canvas before class if at all possible.
